Costs

As a licensed behavioral therapist listed in the physician register of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, I am authorized to bill all private health insurance companies and government aid agencies (Beihilfe). The amount charged for services is based on the Fee Schedule for Psychotherapists (GOP) or the Fee Schedule for Physicians (GOÄ). Please note that your health insurance may not cover all billed costs. Therefore, we recommend that you check directly with your insurance provider regarding your coverage for psychotherapy under your policy (e.g., annual session limits, reimbursable amounts). At the start of therapy, I will provide you with a detailed cost overview..

If you choose to pay for psychotherapy (individual or group) yourself, the fees follow the standard schedule for psychotherapists (GOP). In this case, no information about your treatment or diagnoses will be shared with your health insurance. Please note: if you are self-funding therapy—for example, to avoid potential complications with future civil service employment or disability insurance—you may be asked whether you have ever undergone psychotherapy. Even privately paid therapy should be disclosed in such cases to prevent any issues later. I am happy to discuss this personally with you beforehand. Coaching sessions are not considered medical treatments and are therefore not covered by health insurance. The fee for each 50-minute session is €150.

As a private practice, treatment cannot be billed via the health insurance card. Public health insurance will only cover psychotherapy if no therapy place within the statutory system can be found. If your public health insurance agrees, therapy can then take place under the so-called "Kostenerstattungsverfahren"(reimbursement procedure), which means that you initially pay for the therapy yourself and are later reimbursed by your public health insurance. Please check with your insurance provider regarding the necessary requirements for reimbursement under this procedure. Decisions on reimbursement are usually made on a case-by-case basis by the insurance companies. Whether, and to what extent, you receive reimbursement is independent of my invoicing..

FAQ

Psychotherapy is a medical treatment aimed at alleviating or curing mental disorders. Scientifically validated and recognized methods are used in the process.

By coaching, I mean guidance on a specific question or issue. Unlike psychotherapy, coaching is not a medical treatment. I do, however, use many tools from behavioral therapy in my coaching sessions. In Germany, the professional title “coach” is not legally protected—anyone can call themselves a coach. Even though I often translate coaching as “guidance” or “advising,” it’s important to remember: as the expert in your own system, you already hold the solution to your problem within yourself. My role is to provide a space where you can explore that solution and develop the skills and courage needed to put it into practice.

1. Get in touch
Please use the contact form on this website to send me a message.

2. Initial Consultation
I will get in touch with you to arrange an initial consultation (50 minutes). In this first session, we’ll explore your concerns, goals, and hopes for change. I will also make an initial assessment of your symptoms and explain what is important for psychotherapy to be effective. Together, we will discuss an individual recommendation and consider whether—and how—psychotherapy in my practice could support you.

3. Probationary Period
Depending on scheduling availability and the practice’s capacity, we will then arrange additional introductory sessions. During these sessions, you will get to know me and my way of working. I will also gain as precise an understanding as possible of your situation in order to create a treatment plan tailored to you.

4. Therapy
We then begin the therapy. Together, we create a personalized understanding of your challenges, taking into account your life experiences, core beliefs, and factors that may be maintaining your difficulties. The process of change begins as we apply different therapeutic tools designed to support your growth and progress.

5. Completion
During the course of therapy, we will discuss the extent to which you have achieved your goals. I will also provide my professional assessment of your progress. Once your goals have been reached, we will decide together to conclude the treatment.

2. Initial Consultation
I will contact you to schedule an initial consultation (50 minutes). In this first session, we will explore your concerns, your wishes, and what changes you hope to achieve.

3. Coaching
Depending on scheduling availability, we will then arrange further appointments. In addition, I form as accurate a picture as possible of the problem situation. In most cases, the analysis can hardly be separated from the search for solutions. A process begins..

4. Completion
Throughout the coaching process, we will discuss how far you have progressed toward your goals. If you feel your goals have been achieved, or if the coaching is not providing the support you need, we will decide together to bring the sessions to a close.

The duration of therapy depends on your needs and motivation. For individual or group psychotherapy, you can generally expect it to last at least six months. Coaching sessions usually range from one to ten sessions. We will decide together what works best for you.

In most cases, treatment in my practice cannot be billed directly to public health insurance . The exception is if you cannot find a therapy slot with a provider who is authorized to bill public insurance. If your insurance agrees, the therapy can be arranged under the reimbursement procedure (“Kostenerstattungsverfahren”). You pay for the sessions yourself, and the costs are reimbursed afterward. Please contact your insurance to find out which documents are needed for reimbursement.

In order to bill public health insurance via health insurance cards, a therapist needs an official treatment authorization (“Kassensitz”) from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. The number of these authorizations in each region is limited.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on research into how people learn. The central idea is that we acquire behaviors through learning—some of which may later contribute to psychological difficulties. These behaviors can also be changed through learning. In therapy, the therapist acts like a coach, guiding the process of change and providing expertise and an outside perspective. Most of the work takes place outside the sessions, where you try out new behaviors and strategies in your daily life. Behavioral therapy has developed over time, incorporating evidence-based methods from other approaches, creating a wide range of treatment options. In Germany, it is one of the most widely used forms of psychotherapy. It’s important to remember that therapy can look very different depending on the approach you choose.

This is completely normal. In the first sessions, I will give you my assessment of which type of treatment might be helpful for your symptoms or concerns. If I believe that your needs could be better addressed elsewhere, I will let you know.

No. As a psychological psychotherapist, I cannot prescribe medication. If you need medication, please contact a psychiatrist. You can find suitable practices at arztsuchehessen.de.

Being able to express yourself and feel “seen” and understood is often an important step towards healing. At the same time, making concrete changes is often needed, and taking action on these steps can require effort.
